OUR MISSION:
Participants who successfully complete the PTC program will be able to create and to facilitate original, interactive learning experiences that meet instructional goals.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The program is intended for novice training and development professionals or subject matter experts for whom training is a secondary duty.
The program is a cohort model in which individuals progress through the program together as one group.
The cohort model, also, creates opportunities for informal learning, interagency networking, and increased engagement.
Each cohort is led by experienced training professionals - your PTC Coaches - to ensure participants receive consistent,
personalized feedback.
The program addresses two areas of training: Instructional Design and Facilitation.
All of the assignments and course material builds to help participants succeed
in the Capstone Project at the end of the program.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES:
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Apply principles from the learning sciences during the development and facilitation of learning experiences to increase learning transfer
- Leverage technology to enhance learning experiences
- Conduct a training needs assessment
- Utilize best practices in instructional design
- Create evaluations for individual courses
- Demonstrate public speaking techniques that enhance instruction
- Use facilitation techniques to create a positive learning experience
- Create a supportive learning environment through effective classroom management
- Foster learner engagement in the classroom
PLEASE NOTE:
- Participants may not self-enroll for the CPTP Professional Trainer Certificate program due to the limited number of participants in each cohort. To reserve a seat, please call 225-342-8539 or email _SCS-CPTP@la.gov.
- Candidates can complete the program in as little as one year but will be allowed a total of two years to complete the program.
- Cohort course dates will be scheduled in advance so participants can adjust schedules well in advance. Missing a course could affect your completion date since courses are scheduled in a prescribed order.
