The Comprehensive Public Training Program has a network of over 300 coordinators in state agencies. These coordinators play
a vital role in the program. They serve as two-way communicators responsible for getting information about the training
program to the appropriate people in their agencies and for passing information back to the CPTP about specific training
needs of their agencies. Coordinators are classified as LaGov (agency uses ISIS to track HR information) and Non-LaGov (agency
does not use ISIS to track HR information).
Establishing a New Training Coordinator
Responsibilities of Agency CPTP Coordinators
In order to function effectively, the coordinator performs the following activities:
- Participates in the development of the agency's plan for using the CPTP and fully understands how CPTP fits into the agency's
overall training strategy.
- Understands the CPTP curriculum and the agency's training plan in order to counsel employees on classes appropriate for
their current positions.
- Subscribes agency supervisory staff to appropriate course programs within SAP LSO.
- Reviews training needs of the agency and communicate upcoming needs for specific and/or new training courses with CPTP staff.
Encourages agency staff to prebook classes that are required/desired, but do not have any current available seats/dates.
- Publicizes the training courses offered by CPTP in the agency by recruiting for newly added and low enrollment classes and by encouraging agency staff to review the CPTP Catalog in
LEO My Training and the CPTP calendar on the CPTP wesite. If computer and Internet access is unavailable, coordinators should make class schedule information available
in another manner.
- Assists in the development of internal procedures for making special training requests, initiates contact with the CPTP
concerning these requests, participates in discussions concerning the content of special classes, and makes arrangements
for presentations of these classes.
- Provides guidance to agency staff on using LEO My Training self-enrollment or participates in the development of internal
procedures for approving and enrolling agency employees in CPTP training. Enroll agency staff in training using LEO
when necessary.
- Uses available reporting resources within LEO to track CPTP training compliance for agency employees. Guide employees
(all agencies) and supervisors (LaGov agencies only) to available training transcripts.
- Ensures agency employees' email addresses, work phone numbers, and reporting relationships (LaGov agencies only) remain
up-to-date. Non-LaGov agencies should update emails addresses. Edit information as needed to ensure the successful delivery of training notifications.
- Notifies employees of class details in instances when employees do not have email accounts or have incorrect information
in LEO.
- Provides support to agency staff on using LEO My Training to register, complete, and track learning. Contacts CPTP or OTS/LEO TEAM
with questions as needed.
